Friedrich Becker, Spätburgunder Schweigener Sonnenberg KB GG 2023

Disclosure: I have a commercial relationship with this producer. See my ethics and disclosure policy.

You can find an explanation of "KB" in the producer's profile, but this is Kammerberg, a Gewann of the Sonnenberg on the French side (in Alsace). It is a prized parcel going back to Benedictine times and was recovered by Fritz Becker Sr. starting in the 1960s. Deep color, with black fruits on the nose of blackberry and black plum, and and well integrated wood. Firm tannic grip and bright acidity provide plenty of mineral-infused tension on the ripe blackberry and herbal palate. Impressive balance given it's volume.
