Friedrich Becker, Riesling Schweigener Sonnenberg GG 2023

Disclosure: I have a commercial relationship with this producer. See my ethics and disclosure policy.

Not unlike the Pinots and Chardonnays the producer is known for, the 2023 Sonnenberg GG Riesling is well-structured, tight, and compact, with sweet citrus, smoky gunflint, and salty minerals on the nose. There's plenty of chewy tension on the palate with lingering citrus and mineral notes on the finish. I'm assuming this comes from limestone-marl soils of the German part of the Sonneneberg and was vinified in large neutral wood; however, this is unverified.
